How To Clean Goalkeeper Gloves
Our Goalkeeper Gloves are our battle weapon on the field. That is why, when we choose the model and style that best suits our needs during trainings or games, we must give them all the necessary care so that the grip and durability of the materials are optimal.
In summer, conditions worsen as the terrain is drier and our hands sweat more, conditions that harm and make it difficult to maintain our goalkeeper gloves.
To help you, HO SOCCER goalkeepers, we leave you 5 tips for taking care of your goalkeeper gloves during the summer:
1.- Try to have two pairs of gloves: one for training and one for matches. If you always use the same ones, they will wear out during training, and they will lose efficiency when playing. You can use an older or cheaper pair during training (with less grip, but greater durability), such as our Competition range Gloves and reserve your best pair of Elite Range gloves for matches.
2.- Never wash the gloves in the washing machine. Dust, dirt and sweat attach to your gloves every time you wear them, so they need to be cleaned after use. If you put them in the washing machine, they will appear new, but they will be damaged beyond repair and soon after you will have to buy another pair.
3.- wash the gloves in their proper measure. You should not wash your gloves after each use, as this can accelerate the aging of the material. We recommend washing them when the palm of the glove is stained enough to lose its effectiveness. Moisten and rub gently for a light wash. If they have traces of mud or are very dirty, use lukewarm water with little pressure and a neutral or specific glove soap. Wash them one hand at a time until all the foam is removed.
If necessary, you can remove the dirt with a soft toothbrush. Then gently press to drain the water. Watch out! Don't twist them. For more tips read our post how to care for your goalkeeper gloves.
4.-Dry your gloves every time they get wet with sweat. Although some latex material appreciate a little moisture to improve their adhesion (such as our new TX200 latex special for wet terrains) it is important that after each use or wash you leave them VERY DRY, since the humidity affects the RUBBER, the main component of the natural latex palms.
Let them air dry and do not expose them to any direct heat source, as this will damage the materials. A simple and effective way is to lay them face down in the shade and put absorbent paper inside to avoid excess moisture inside.
5.- Store your gloves correctly. Once dry, put them in a cover that transpires in a cool environment without direct light. DO NOT PRESS THE LATEX PALMS TOGETHER! They could stick and then tear apart, and you do not want that. Ideally, put each goalkeeper glove in an individual bag, but if not possible, use a paper barrier so the latex does not stick. This way we can keep them in optimal conditions until the next game.
